What is Griffith's Uni-Reach program?
Uni-Reach is a longstanding outreach program coordinated by Student Diversity and Inclusion, which aims to raise aspirations and assist students from equity backgrounds at partner high schools in the Brisbane, Logan, Gold Coast and northern NSW regions to access higher education. The objectives of Uni-Reach are to improve awareness of educational opportunities and pathways, prepare for university and assist students to reach their potential.
The program offers students various means of improving their academic performance ranging from in-school lessons, to on campus events. With the support of principals, teachers, and guidance officers, Year 11 and 12 student participants are identified in Uni-Reach partner schools. These students have the opportunity to interact with Student Mentors at key times during their school year. Mentors in the program often come from the schools and communities they serve in, and are trained to offer academic support and general advice about university life.
